OurHistory

Since 1982, Neighborhood Housing and Development Corporation (NHDC) has strived to promote decent, safe and affordable housing and affiliated housing services to low and moderate income residents within our North Central Florida service area.

To date, the agency has constructed and sold over 300 single family homes to first time home purchasers.

In 1998, NHDC received a National Award of Excellence from the National Association of Housing and Redevelopment Officials (NAHRO) for our 16 home in-fill residential development at Iron Wood Village in Gainesville.

In 1998, the agency initiated pre-purchase home buyer education classes. To date, over 1300 households have attended and benefitted from the classes.

In 2007, NHDC began its mortgage delinquency and foreclosure intervention counseling services and has already assisted over 500 households in financial distress.

In 2008, the agency started its rental housing program and at this time NHDC maintains an inventory of 56 rental properties.

NHDC is a HUD-Certified Housing Counseling Agency. The State of Florida has also designated the agency as a Community Housing Development Organization (CHDO)
