Homebuyer Education Seminar

NHDC offers a Homebuyer Education Seminar (HBE) every month to help first-time homebuyers understand the entire purchase process from start to finish.

The class is taught by our full-time housing counselor, Corey Harris (also a realtor), and 5 other industry professionals.

The Homebuyer Education Seminar serves as the Education Requirement for most Down Payment Assistance Programs including Alachua County SHIP and Florida Bond programs.

Important Information to Know:

· There is a fee of $50.00 to attend the course. (This fee is refunded if a client purchases a home within a year of attending the class.) The fee is due 8 days prior to the class date (i.e. the Friday the week before).

· Your $50.00 fee includes 1 lunch. If you are a couple, you may purchase a second lunch for $10.00 or simply bring a second lunch. You may also purchase a second set of materials for $10.00, or you are welcome to share. These fees are also due 8 days prior to the class date. You may not leave to purchase a lunch once the class has begun.

· Please bring a pen, calculator, a sweater/sweatshirt, and coffee & snacks as desired.

· You may not bring children to the class.

From Newberry Road (University Avenue) head west. Take a right onto Fort Clarke Boulevard. Take the second right onto NW 15^th Place. NW 15^th Place turns slightly left and becomes NW 80^th Blvd. You will see GACAR on the left-hand-side.

From north of Gainesville head south on I-75. Take exit 387 toward Newberry. Turn left at Newberry Road (FL-26 W). Turn right at Fort Clarke Boulevard. Take second right onto NW 15^th Place. NW 15^th Place becomes NW 80^th Blvd.
